Joyce E. Brooks was born and raised in Prichard, Alabama. Joyce holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical engineering from the University of South Alabama and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She began her corporate career over two decades ago at Alabama Power Company.
Joyce’s career was on the fast track, but in September 2008, a breast cancer diagnosis forced her to step back and reevaluate how she managed her time. She was juggling a lot of balls—professional, mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, volunteer, church member, of and the list goes on… Four years after her breast cancer diagnosis and twenty-one years of loyal service, Joyce stepped out on faith and decided to retire from her promising career to focus on her family, becoming a business owner and helping others achieve a more balanced and stress-free life.
Today, Joyce E. Brooks is owner and managing member of Brooks Consulting, LLC whose mission is to assist businesses and organizations gain a competitive advantage by focusing on leadership development, organizational strategy and individual wellbeing. Joyce is the author of three books: Self-Inflicted Overload, Stress Less and Live More and It Ain’t Over! Through her works, she encourages individuals to live a more balanced, stress-free and fulfilling life. In addition, Joyce has begun mentoring and encouraging the next generation with the release of two children’s/young adult books: The Power of Two Words – A Little Motherly Advice and Mr. Brown, Will You Please Open the Door!
Joyce’s journey and purpose are authentic and inspiring. As an entrepreneur, mother, cancer survivor, and widow, she wakes up every morning with three little words on her mind: It Ain’t Over! She lives her truth by encouraging others to realize that no matter what storm you may be experiencing: It Ain’t Over!
After 10 years of being cancer free, Joyce is facing the battle again. Joyce has and continues to trust and believe in God’s word. The Bible says speak of those things that are not, as if they are. Joyce resides in Birmingham with her two sons, Jae, 17 and Matthew, 14. They worship at the Church of the Highlands.
